Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
