It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was dismissed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
